A man has been jailed following a brutal attack in broad daylight at East Kilbride bus station.
Hamilton Sheriff Court heard the victim suffered multiple fractures to both sides of his face and his forehead.
Ian Smith, 45, admitted that, while acting with others, he punched and kicked a man to his severe injury in Olympia Way on August 31 last year.

The court was told the victim was at the bus station with Smith and others around 6pm. An “altercation” took place and the victim was punched on the face then kicked while he was on the ground.
A member of the public contacted the police. Officers found the victim had severe swelling about the face and around both eyes. He was taken to hospital and kept in hospital so an eye injury could be assessed.
Court outcome
The court heard Smith also needed hospital treatment for an eye injury. He told police he had acted in self-defence.
Smith admitted previous convictions. He had been freed from prison in May last year on a supervised release order, but then spent a year on remand in connection with the latest case.
Sheriff John Hamilton KC imposed a two-year prison sentence but backdated it, meaning Smith could be freed immediately to take up the offer of a job.
