Man hit by three cars on M56 named as family pays tribute

A man who died after being hit by three cars on a motorway has been named and pictured. Krisstoffer Henshall, 38, from Golborne, Greater Manchester, was struck while walking on the eastbound carriageway of the M56 between junction 12 at Runcorn and junction 14 at Hapsford at about 12.50am on Monday, August 31.

Family pays tribute

Cheshire Police and paramedics attended the scene in the early hours of Monday morning and found that the man had been hit by three vehicles: a black Dacia Duster, a red Kia Niro and a black Ford Focus. Krisstoffer was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a tribute issued on Tuesday, his family said: "Our family is heartbroken by the sudden loss of Kriss, and we are struggling to understand and process this devastating news. He will be missed beyond words. We respectfully ask for privacy as we mourn his loss and support one another through this difficult time."

Road closed for investigation

Following the incident, the M56 eastbound carriageway was closed for a significant period before reopening at around 9.15am on Monday, according to the Liverpool Echo. It is believed that forensic work took place by the collisions team from Cheshire Police before the motorway section was reopened.

Detective Sergeant Russ Sime, of the serious collision investigation unit, said: "This was a tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the family of the deceased.

"Enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding this collision are ongoing and as part of the investigation we are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or believes they may have seen the pedestrian on the motorway prior to the collision, to get in touch.
