A 57-year-old man has died after being found unresponsive on Main Street in Dundonald, Ayrshire, in the early hours of Sunday, August 23, 2026.
Emergency services were called to the scene following reports of an injured man. He was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock, where he died a short time later.
Arrest made in connection with incident
A 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident. Police Scotland said the death is currently being treated as unexplained.
In a statement issued on Monday, a Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.05am on Sunday, 23 August, 2026, we were called to a report of an unresponsive man with injuries on Main Steet in Dundonald.
“Emergency services attended and the 57 year-old man was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock where he died a short time later. His family is aware.
Police appeal for information
“The death is currently being treated as unexplained.
“A 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection with assault and enquiries are ongoing.
“Officers remain in the area and anyone with any information or concerns can approach them.”
