A 20-year-old man remains in hospital in a critical condition following a serious assault in the seaside town of New Quay, Ceredigion, in the early hours of Saturday morning. Dyfed-Powys Police have arrested a 37-year-old man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm in connection with the incident.
Details of the Incident
The attack occurred at approximately 12:51 am on Saturday, July 4, 2026, on Margaret Street leading to Uplands Square in the town centre. Police confirmed the victim sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Dyfed-Powys Police stated that their enquiries are progressing, led by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the major crime team. A 37-year-old man has been arrested and is currently in police custody.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward. The road has since been reopened to the public, but police have said there will be an increased police presence in the town over the next few days.
