A 25-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an attempted murder in Aberdeen, following a daylight incident that prompted a large emergency response and a police lockdown of a city street.
Incident on Bedford Road
Emergency crews were alerted to the incident on Bedford Road at around 2:40pm on Saturday, August 1. Upon arrival, a man was found injured and was rushed to hospital. His current condition and the extent of his injuries are unclear.
Police response and charges
Footage from the scene showed police locking down the area, with a police car parked at either end of the road near Interchange Retail Park. Around eight police vehicles and at least one ambulance could be seen in the clip. Another image showed emergency crews outside a row of flats, with police taping off part of the road.
The 25-year-old man was due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Wednesday, August 5. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 25-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an attempted murder in Bedford Road, Aberdeen, around 2.40pm on Saturday, August 1, 2026. He was due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Wednesday, August 5. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
