A man has been charged and three others arrested after a knifepoint robbery in South Shields led to a police raid where weapons, cash, two motorbikes and suspected Class A drugs were seized.
Knifepoint robbery on Binchester Street
Officers were called to the incident on Binchester Street just after 10pm on Thursday, July 16. Two suspects reportedly attempted to take a motorbike from the victim and used a knife to threaten them.
The victim provided descriptions of the alleged assailants to officers from the response and neighbourhood support teams. CCTV footage obtained from the scene led investigators to an address in the Westoe area of South Shields.
Police raid and seizures
Forcing entry to the property, officers seized several weapons, £2,000 in cash, two Sur-Ron electric bikes, and a quantity of suspected Class A drugs. Four men were arrested at the scene; three have since been released under investigation.
The fourth suspect, Stephen Hunter, 26, of Chichester Road, South Shields, has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon and possession of Class A drugs.
Court appearance and police statement
Hunter appeared at Newcastle Magistrates' Court the following morning and was remanded in custody until his next court date in mid-August.

Thanks to quick-thinking, teamwork and excellent communication, we were able to locate the suspects and uncover multiple weapons and suspected drugs."
