Man Charged After Range Rover Theft and Crash in Hamilton

A 41-year-old man has been charged after allegedly holding up a woman with a weapon and stealing her Range Rover in Hamilton.

The incident happened on Back O’Barns at around 9.45am on Friday morning.

The vehicle was allegedly driven around the area including Montrose Crescent, Guthrie Street, Muir Street, Almada Street and Fore Row before it crashed on Back Row, less than half a mile from where it was allegedly stolen.

The man is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday.

Detective Constable Dayle Cleland Lanarkshire CID said: “Our enquiries remain ongoing and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and witnessed the incident or the vehicle afterwards to contact us.

“I would also ask anyone with private CCTV or Dash Cam footage which could assist to get in touch.”
