The 53-year-old man was attacked by two thugs with weapons as he sat in his vehicle on Glenisla Street in the Tollcross area of Glasgow at around 9.30pm on Friday. The attack happened close to Tollcross International Swimming Centre, where hours earlier Duncan Scott had won Team Scotland's first gold medal.
Suspects on the run
Police describe the two suspects as white males in their 20s and said they made off from the scene in a white vehicle. The victim was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment, but there is no further information on his injuries at this stage.
Police appeal for information
Detective Constable Martin Howie said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident, and we are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
“If you were in the area on Friday evening and witnessed a disturbance, or noticed anything at all suspicious, please get in touch.
“We would also urge anyone with dashcam or private CCTV footage to check in case it has captured anything which could be of significance.
