A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a teenage girl was reportedly stabbed in the neck in Lancashire. Armed police responded to the scene in Brierfield on Friday afternoon.
Incident Details
At approximately 3pm on Friday, June 12, emergency services were called to Wood Street in Brierfield following reports of a stabbing. Police confirmed that a 17-year-old girl had been assaulted and sustained a stab wound to her neck.
Officers, including armed units, quickly arrived at the scene. A 30-year-old man was arrested shortly afterward on suspicion of attempted murder, according to Lancashire Live.
Police Statement
A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: "We were called at 3.06pm today to Wood Street, Brierfield, to a report of a stabbing. It was reported that a 17-year-old girl had been assaulted and suffered a stab injury to her neck. Officers, some of them armed, attended and a 30-year-old man was arrested shortly afterwards on suspicion of attempted murder."
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to a stab wound at the back of her neck. Her current condition has not been disclosed.

Police acknowledged that the incident would cause alarm in the local community. Extra patrols will be present in the area this evening to provide reassurance. Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the stabbing or has CCTV or doorbell footage from the area to contact police on 101, quoting log 0836 of 12th June.
