A 28-year-old man has been arrested after a 78-year-old man was injured in a shooting in Glasgow. The incident occurred on a housing estate in Springburn, where armed police responded to Crichton Street at around 12:40 PM on Thursday, May 28.

The victim, a pensioner, sustained a serious leg injury and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged. Police Scotland confirmed the arrest nearly three weeks after the event, though it remains unclear if charges have been filed.
Officers initially cordoned off Crichton Street at Gourlay Street, advising the public to avoid the area. The force described the attack as targeted and conducted extensive investigations, including reviewing CCTV footage and door-to-door inquiries.

A Police Scotland spokesperson stated: "A 28-year-old man has been arrested after a man was injured by a firearm in the Springburn area of Glasgow. The incident took place outside an address on Crichton Street around 12:40pm on Thursday, 28 May, 2026. A 78-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment and later discharged. Enquiries are ongoing."
Photos from the scene showed the area taped off with uniformed officers guarding marked vehicles.
