An 11-year-old boy was bitten on the elbow in a dog attack in north Manchester, leading to a large police response and the arrest of a 31-year-old man.

Officers attended Scotland Hall Road in Newton Heath at around 4pm on Thursday, October 8, after receiving reports of Bullmastiff-type dogs being on the loose, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.

Police response and seizure

Pictures from the scene showed a large number of police vehicles in the area, including specialist Tactical Aid Unit (TAU) officers. A GMP spokesperson said one dog was seized and two others were placed in kennels. Their breeds have not been confirmed.

Arrest and injury

A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing an aggressive animal, a GMP spokesperson said. The boy's injury is believed to be 'minor,' they added.
