Man and Four Children Suffer Life-Changing Injuries in Gas Blast

A man and four children have suffered life-changing injuries after a massive gas canister explosion outside a pub in West Yorkshire. The incident occurred at around 2:15pm on June 29, 2026, outside the Hare and Hounds Inn on Liley Lane in Mirfield.

Victims and Injuries

Emergency services found five people inside a vehicle, including four children and a man. All occupants had suffered serious burns and were taken to hospital. A 43-year-old man and an eight-year-old girl suffered life-threatening injuries, while the three other children are believed to have life-changing injuries.

Investigation Underway

West Yorkshire Police confirmed that an investigation is ongoing but stated that there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances. An air ambulance was dispatched to the scene. The force added that all five victims suffered serious burns from the explosion.
