Man, 102, critical after 'pushed off pub stage' in Wales

A 102-year-old man is fighting for his life in hospital after allegedly being pushed off a stage at a pub in South Wales, leaving him with life-changing injuries.

Incident at The Crow's Nest

The incident took place at The Crow's Nest pub in Cwmbran, South Wales, at around 10.25pm on August 1. Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene after the centenarian allegedly asked for the music to be turned down during a live set by Llanelli-based band SuperHans.

Witnesses said the man, who lived independently and was a regular at the pub, wandered onto the stage, which was up three steps, to make the request. He was allegedly pushed, causing him to fall backwards and hit the floor.

Witness Accounts

One pubgoer said: "My understanding from the police and staff at the time was that the 102-year-old, who lived independently and was a regular at the pub, went onto the stage, which was up three steps, to ask for the music to be turned down. He was pushed, causing him to fall down the three steps and broke his hip. At 102, this will cause life-changing, if not life-shortening, injuries."

Another pubgoer added: "It's believed the 102-year-old was pushed hard enough that he did not fall down the steps, but cleared them and landed on the floor below."
