A horrific love triangle has culminated in a cold-blooded execution, after a South Carolina man was accused of gunning down his perceived romantic rival in a calculated ambush.
Devan Raper, 22, stands charged with the murder of 21-year-old Trey Wright. The victim was discovered lifeless in his pickup truck, which had crashed into a fence on Old Mill Road in Westminster, South Carolina, on the evening of September 5th.
A Calculated and Brutal Ambush
Authorities assert that this was no chance encounter. Investigators believe Raper lay in wait for Wright, deliberately ramming his vehicle to force him to stop before approaching the driver's side window and firing multiple shots at close range.
"It was an execution," stated a law enforcement source close to the investigation, painting a chilling picture of the attack.
A Web of Romantic Entanglement
The motive for the brutal killing appears to be rooted in a complex romantic entanglement. Both men were reportedly involved with the same woman. Disturbingly, text messages sent by Raper prior to the shooting reportedly contained direct threats towards Wright, explicitly referencing their shared love interest and proclaiming, "It's either me or him."
