Thousands of pro-Palestine demonstrators are set to join a march through central London on Saturday.
The Metropolitan Police has imposed conditions on the National March for Palestine, organised by the Palestine Coalition, and a pro-Israel counter-demo by Stop the Hate to “minimise the risk of serious disruption to communities”.
March marks Gaza war anniversary
The pro-Palestine march is being held to mark the third anniversary of the war in Gaza that followed the October 7 Hamas attacks on Israel.
The force anticipates between 7,000 and 10,000 demonstrators will attend the pro-Palestine march, which will form on the Embankment at midday before marching to Whitehall for a rally.
Counter-protest and police warnings
The counter-protest begins at 11am outside nearby New Scotland Yard.
Protesters at both marches have been warned that they could be arrested if they refuse to remove face coverings, and there will be zero-tolerance for hate crime. It comes days after demonstrators clashed at October 7 protests in central London.
