A man who threatened to "chop" a shopkeeper's throat during a knife-point robbery has been jailed for 54 months.
Robbery at Diamond Convenience Store
Richard Farrell, 28, of Didcot, entered the Diamond Convenience Store in Didcot, Oxford, wearing a T-shirt as a mask. He demanded money and waved a knife at shopworker Harsh Antil, who was behind the counter.
Farrell shouted, "I will chop your throat and stab you", before grabbing Mr Antil. Three bottles of gin were stolen during the ordeal.
Court Proceedings
Farrell pleaded guilty to one count of robbery and possession of a knife in a public place. He was sentenced on July 31 at Oxford Crown Court.
Prosecutor Julian Lynch told the court that another man also entered the shop and stole cans of alcohol. Mr Antil told both men to leave, but Farrell refused and picked up cans of vodka before pulling out a kitchen knife.
Farrell shouted, "Give me all the cash." He swung the knife towards Mr Antil, who backed away. Farrell then picked up the gin bottles, made more threats, and left the store.
Victim's Fear
Mr Lynch said: "Mr Antil was in fear for his life. He thought he was going to be stabbed and killed."
