Influencer Danny Lambo has sparked anger after posting a video that appears to mock the death of Ann Widdecombe. The self-proclaimed 'playboy millionaire' filmed himself at a Kent hotel standing next to an art installation that resembles the late politician.
Lambo, whose real name is Danny Karne, recorded the clip at Eastwell Manor Champneys hotel and spa during an arts festival. In the now-deleted video, he created a mock murder mystery scenario, mispronouncing Widdecombe's surname as 'Whittingham.'
Political Figures Condemn Video
The video drew strong criticism from Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, who told the Daily Mail: 'The terrible murder of Ann Widdecombe is no joke. These people are sick.' Deputy leader Richard Tice added: 'This looks to be a bunch of sick people laughing and joking about the brutal killing of a woman loved by millions.'
Tice also criticised the art installation itself, stating: 'Most people would view this not as art but just sick.'
Artist Responds to Controversy
Olivia Herring, who created the installation titled 'Still Life. Woman on the floor' in March, described Lambo's video as 'disgusting and trashy.' She said: 'This is nothing but a Z-list celebrity trying to get some publicity by trying to cash in on my artwork.'
Herring added that the piece was not intended to represent Widdecombe's death: 'If I had wanted to represent that then I would have done something using a hammer and blood.'
Lambo Defends Actions
Lambo later claimed he did not intend to cause harm, telling the Mail: 'We are mocking the absurdity of the art display of her death - not her actual horrific death.' He expressed condolences to Widdecombe's family and said: 'May they receive the justice she and they deserve.'
Widdecombe was found dead at her home in Haytor, Devon, on July 8 with serious head injuries. Joshua Kerry, 28, from South Yorkshire, has been charged with her murder, with a provisional trial date set for June 8 next year.
