Heartfelt statements were released by the families of the four men who died when a black Cupra Formentor left the carriageway and struck a lamppost on Liverpool Road, Huyton, on the morning of July 24. A 27-year-old passenger in the car remains in hospital in a stable condition.
Jack Diggle
Jack Diggle, 23, was described by his family as “kind, quiet, thoughtful, and loving” and cherished by them with all of their hearts. He loved football, was a proud Everton supporter, and had a passion for darts. He was due to travel to Blackpool with friends to watch the darts.
Jack's mother said: “Jack and I went out for a meal together on Thursday. It was such a lovely time, just mother and son, enjoying each other's company. Little did I know that it would be the last time we would spend together.” She added: “The loss of Jack has left a hole in our lives and in our hearts that can never be filled. We will carry him with us every day and miss him for the rest of our lives.”
Andrew Roberts
Andrew Roberts, 24, was remembered by his family as having a heart full of kindness. His tribute read: “Our beautiful Andrew. Your heart is full of kindness and that's why so many people love you. Our worlds are shattered… Life can change in an instant… We love you so much our Andrew/Pip as many knew him.”
His mother Linda said: “My beautiful blue-eyed boy… My life will never be the same with you not here.” His brothers Carl and Thomas said: “You will always be the glue to our crazy family.” Andrew's girlfriend Kiera wrote: “My Andrew, my best friend… I promise I'm going to try stay strong for you.”
Benjamin Dooley
Benjamin Dooley, 23, was described by his mother Kerry as her world and best friend. She said: “My life is ripped apart… You was the kindest person I knew with a heart of gold. Do anything for anyone. Loved by everyone who met you.”
His sister Demi said: “Ben my little brother my one and only sibling… my heart is broken. Feels like a terrible dream… love you my brother till we meet again.”
Craig Shackleton-Brady
Craig Shackleton-Brady, 26, was described as a “well-mannered family man”. He was a devoted father to his two children and a dedicated brother. The tribute said: “His love, loyalty, and generosity touched everyone who knew him… He was also a passionate Liverpool supporter, following his team with unwavering loyalty. He enjoyed darts and had a keen interest in cage fighting.”
The family added: “Anyone who knew Craig will remember his infectious laugh… his spirit lives on through the love he shared.”
