Hull City's Gourna-Douath flips car near training ground

Hull City midfielder Lucas Gourna-Douath has reportedly flipped his car near the club's training ground and walked away without injury, in what is the second similar crash involving a Hull player in three weeks.

Images shared on Thursday (October 1) morning show a Mercedes lying on its side along Millhouse Woods Lane, the narrow road that leads to Hull City's Cottingham training complex. No official confirmation has been provided by police or the club, but Hull Live reports that the car belongs to the £3.4m summer signing, who was behind the wheel and emerged unscathed.

Second crash on the same route

Just three weeks earlier, on September 11, Hull's £10.5m winger Sorba Thomas was unhurt after a collision that left his car upside down on its roof on the same road. Thomas's £60,000 Land Rover Defender crashed last month, with a club staff member, believed to be manager Sergej Jakirovic, present at the scene.

Following that incident, local councillor Phil Redshaw issued a statement revealing he had raised concerns with the club about the need for players to exercise caution when approaching the training ground.

Residents' concerns over speeding

Redshaw said last month: "I wrote to the Hull City club secretary on Sunday asking them to remind players to be careful driving down the road because of the residents' concerns. I wanted them to remind their staff to drive with extra care, because they get new players in every season."

Millhouse Woods Lane is an extremely narrow road with minimal space for vehicles to pass through, and alerts have previously been issued about the pace some cars have been travelling while navigating the tight carriageway.
