Hull City midfielder Lucas Gourna-Douath has escaped injury after flipping his car on the same road where team-mate Sorba Thomas crashed less than three weeks ago.
The vehicle ended up on its side following a single-vehicle collision on Millhouse Woods Lane, the narrow road leading to the club's training ground in Cottingham, on Thursday morning.
Gourna-Douath is understood to have walked away from the crash unscathed, just as Thomas did after his own accident on the same road on September 11.
Emergency services called
Humberside Police confirmed emergency services had been called to reports of a single-vehicle road traffic collision at around 8.30am.
A force spokesperson said: "Officers and emergency services were called to reports of a single vehicle road traffic collision on Millhouse Woods Lane in Cottingham at around 8.30am this morning (Thursday, 1 October 2026)."
"Thankfully, no one was injured as a result of the collision."
There has been no suggestion of wrongdoing by either player.
Repeat of Thomas's crash
The repeat comes after Thomas's car was flipped onto its roof on the same stretch of road last month. The Wales international, who joined Hull from Stoke City on deadline day, escaped without injury from that incident.
Millhouse Woods Lane is a particularly narrow road leading to Hull's training base, with previous concerns raised about the speed at which vehicles travel along it.
Following Thomas's crash, local councillor Phil Redshaw said he had contacted Hull City to ask the club to remind its players to take extra care when driving to the training ground.
"I wrote to the Hull City club secretary on Sunday asking them to remind players to be careful driving down the road because of the residents' concerns," Redshaw said last month.
"I wanted them to remind their staff to drive with extra care, because they get new players in every season."
Gourna-Douath's move
Gourna-Douath joined Hull City during the summer transfer window and has become part of the club's midfield options. The 22-year-old previously played for Saint-Etienne and Red Bull Salzburg.
The circumstances surrounding Thursday's crash have not been disclosed.
