A tent situated beneath a motorway underpass in Glasgow has been cordoned off by police following the alleged rape of an 18-year-old woman. Authorities were alerted to reports of a serious sexual assault near Cheapside Street in the Anderston area at approximately 3 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16.

Arrest Made in Connection with Incident

A 36-year-old man was arrested in relation to the incident. He has since been released pending further investigations. Police have confirmed that their inquiries are ongoing and have not disclosed additional details at this stage.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland stated: "A 36-year-old man has been arrested and released pending further enquiries following a report of the serious sexual assault of an 18-year-old woman in the area of Cheapside Street, Glasgow, around 3am on Tuesday, 16 June, 2026. Enquiries remain ongoing."
