Girl, 8, and Man Fight for Life After Car Explosion

An eight-year-old girl and a 43-year-old man are fighting for their lives after a car explosion outside the Hare and Hounds Inn on Liley Lane in Mirfield, West Yorkshire. Three other children have also been left with life-changing injuries.

Emergency Response and Injuries

Emergency services were called to the scene at 2:17 PM on Sunday, 28 June, following reports of an explosion involving a vehicle. Police confirmed that five people travelling in the car—four children and a man—suffered serious burns. The eight-year-old girl and the man remain in critical condition.

The three other children sustained injuries believed to be life-changing, according to West Yorkshire Police. All five victims were transported to hospital for urgent medical treatment.

Police Investigation

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police stated: "At 2:17pm yesterday (28 June), police were called to a report of an explosion in a vehicle at the Hare and Hounds Inn, Liley Lane, Mirfield. The three other children have injuries which are believed to be life-changing. Enquiries are ongoing into the incident, but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances."

Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the cause of the explosion, but early indications suggest no foul play.
