A 16-year-old girl has died after being hit by a car near Highgate School in north London.
Collision in Highgate
Officers from Met Police were called to North Road, Highgate, at around 08.15am today following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a car.
The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene, close to the private school’s main site. The driver, a 68-year-old man, remained at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.
Family support and emergency response
The girl’s family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers, the Met said.
The London Ambulance Service, London Fire Brigade and London Air Ambulance also attended the incident.
Ongoing enquiries
Road closures remain in place, with police urging people to avoid the area while enquiries continue.
