Two men who trapped a 14-year-old girl in a toilet and gang raped her have been sentenced to life imprisonment. The conviction was handed down on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, following the abduction and rape of the victim in Uttar Pradesh, India.
Attack Details
The girl had gone to a toilet when the men followed and intercepted her. They assaulted her, dragged her into a cubicle, and took turns raping her. The attack occurred on the evening of April 26, 2020, as reported by the Times of India.
The victim's younger brother, who was with her before she was taken, reported the attack, prompting police to launch an immediate investigation. The suspects were identified about a week later and arrested.
Conviction and Sentencing
Local councillor Shrikrishna Yadav said: "The two accused intercepted her, assaulted her and confined her inside a nearby toilet. They gagged her and took turns to rape her before family members, alerted by the victim's younger siblings, reached the spot."
Detectives launched an investigation two days after the incident under Indian Penal Code sections 376DA (gang rape of a girl under 16 years), 342 (wrongful confinement), 504 (intentional insult), and 506 (criminal intimidation).
Court Proceedings
The victim identified both men in court, and medical testimony corroborated the assault. Special Judge Narendra Pal Rana sentenced both men to life imprisonment under IPC Section 376DA. The court also imposed a fine of 54,000 Indian Rupees (£421) on each attacker, with part of the money to aid the victim's rehabilitation.
