Hundreds of people gathered in Gaza City on [date] to bury more than 100 members of an extended family, including 40 children, after their bodies were recovered by Gaza's civil defence. The victims were among more than 300 people killed on 22 November 2023 when Israeli warplanes bombed a residential block.
Recovery of bodies
The bodies were recovered by Gaza's civil defence teams, who have been digging through rubble since the ceasefire established last October. The ceasefire has provided some breathing room for teams to search for remains, though it has not stopped Israeli bombing of Gaza.
Ongoing search
Thousands of remains are still buried across the strip, according to officials. The funeral was held as families continue to mourn the loss of loved ones and await the return of those still missing.
