Union Saint-Gilloise winger Mohammed Fuseini was attacked by a masked gang in Brussels on Sunday morning, July 26. The 24-year-old Ghanaian international was dragged from his car and placed in a headlock by the group, who were reportedly armed.
Robbery in broad daylight
According to local media outlet Het Laatste Nieuws, Fuseini was robbed of a Rolex watch believed to be worth €14,000 (approximately £12,000). The incident occurred in broad daylight on the streets of Brussels.
Club statement on player's condition
His club Union Saint-Gilloise released a statement giving an update on Fuseini's condition. They said: "The images from last Sunday are particularly harrowing. He subsequently went to the hospital for a check-up and received excellent care there from the Brussels police, whom we sincerely thank for their outstanding work."
The statement added: "The injuries are not serious, and he resumed training yesterday." Fuseini, who has played in the Champions League for Union Saint-Gilloise, is expected to recover fully.
