Freddy Brazier, 21, son of Jade Goody and Jeff Brazier, was hospitalised last week after being mauled by his pocket bully Pablo. The dog is in police custody, and Freddy has until Tuesday to find Pablo a new home or he will be put down.
Ex-girlfriend speaks out
Holly Swinburn, mother of Freddy's four-month-old daughter Isla Jade, urged anyone to take Pablo in. On Instagram she wrote: "This is Pablo. I had to give him to someone as I was struggling with a baby and a dog, he has been mistreated there and attacked them to protect himself. He's the nicest dog and this is totally out of character for him. He wouldn't hurt a fly. Please if anyone has a good home for Pablo message me! I don't want to see him being put down and I can't look after him and a baby by myself."
Attack details
Freddy initially went to St Thomas' Hospital but left after a long wait, seeking treatment at Royal London Hospital the next day. He described the attack: "He hooked on to my arm. The dog was hanging off me." He saw a 3cm hole in his arm and said, "It was terrifying. He was just a completely different dog."
Police removed Pablo and informed Freddy by letter that the dog would be destroyed unless suitable alternative accommodation was found within a week, a deadline expiring on Tuesday (July 28). Freddy told The Sun: "I've never been scared of Pablo, but I was scared. The police arrived to take Pablo and I watched him get taken by the thing that goes around their neck. It was heartbreaking."
Injuries and prior incident
Freddy cannot bend or move his arm up and down, describing the ordeal as "extremely painful". He wants his dog back but acknowledges it may not happen. Days before the attack, neighbours had called police after screams from Freddy's nan Jackiey Budden, who was also set upon by Pablo. A neighbour heard cries as the dog gripped her with its teeth. London Fire Brigade and Metropolitan Police attended, but no charges were brought.
A source said: "It's been a shocking few days.. During the first incident, Jackiey was home alone, and she was mauled – on this occasion, one of her panicked neighbours raised the alarm."
Sources described the situation as "awful" for Freddy, who "absolutely adores Pablo". A spokesperson said: "Freddy is currently being treated – we will keep everyone updated on his recovery." Pocket bullies resemble XL bullies but are exempt from the 2024 breed ban due to shorter stature.
