Florida man jailed 25 years for abducting, assaulting girl, 13

Bryan Oyanguren Rosado has been jailed for 25 years after abducting and sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in Florida. The man approached a group of teenagers and handed one of them money to buy him food from a nearby Burger King. When the 13-year-old girl returned with his order, he grabbed her from behind, forced her into his car, and drove away.

Assault and escape

According to US outlet WFLA, the predator drove the girl around for hours before taking her to a neighborhood under construction, where he sexually assaulted her. She reportedly rolled down a window and screamed for help before he locked the vehicle’s doors and windows to prevent her from escaping. He later released the victim near the apartment complex.

Investigation and evidence

Officers located the man after a tip-off that matched both his vehicle and cellphone to the victim’s account. During the investigation, authorities found 20 videos depicting portions of the assault and dozens of files identified as child sexual abuse material.

Plea deal and sentencing

Rosado pleaded guilty to kidnapping, sexual battery of a victim younger than 18, and 75 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material, according to a Hillsborough State Attorney’s Office press release. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison after accepting a plea deal, despite Florida law stating the minimum prison term would be roughly 330 years. Prosecutors reportedly told the judge the victim supported the agreement because it spared her the anguish of testifying at trial.

Under Florida law, he must serve at least 85% of his prison sentence before becoming eligible for release. He will be subject to 15 years of sex offender probation and required to register as a sexual predator after release.
