Verdi's, the iconic café in Mumbles known for its homemade ice cream and views of Swansea Bay, has been closed after a fire overnight. The family that runs the business said it is 'absolutely devastated' by the blaze.
Fire Forces Closure of Popular Café
The fire broke out overnight at the café and restaurant, which was taken over by the Hole family in 2023. The business, formerly run by the Moruzzi family, is famous for its award-winning fresh cream Italian ice cream made daily. No injuries were reported.
In a statement on social media, the owners said: 'Whilst we’re still coming to terms with what has happened, we’re relieved that nobody was injured and everyone is safe.'
Community Rallies Behind Verdi's
Locals quickly sent messages of support. One person wrote: 'Sending our best wishes to the Verdi’s team. Glad everyone is safe.' Another added: 'So sorry to read this. Glad everyone is safe. Hope you're up and running again quickly.'
