Serie A side Fiorentina have reportedly turned down the chance to sign former Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho as his search for a new club drags on. The 26-year-old is still without a new club after leaving Old Trafford earlier this summer, with the new season edging closer.
Fiorentina pass up opportunity
Reports emerging from Italy state that Fiorentina have passed up the opportunity to bring in the ex-United winger, who spent last season on loan at Aston Villa. Sancho featured 39 times for Villa across all competitions, as Unai Emery's side secured fourth place in the league and lifted the Europa League trophy.
Yet despite that triumph at Villa, he hasn't found a new club yet. Alfredo Pedulla claims Sancho was proposed to Fiorentina a fortnight ago, but the Serie A outfit had reservations about signing him given his performances in recent years.
Previous Italian interest collapses
This isn't the first occasion that Sancho has seen a potential move to Italy collapse, with AS Roma showing interest in acquiring the England international during the summer of 2025. It was claimed his representatives' fees derailed that transfer to the Italian heavyweights, and negotiations this summer have encountered fresh complications.
Non-league outfit Flixton were compelled to issue a statement earlier this summer after Sancho was seen training at the club's ground.
Flixton clarify Sancho's visit
Club owner Christopher Garcia denied that Sancho had been on trial and clarified: "Over the past few days, we've seen a number of posts and comments circulating regarding Jadon Sancho's visit to Flixton FC.
"To clarify, Jadon was not on trial with the club and was not involved in any transfer discussions. He simply used our facilities for a private training session to maintain his fitness while preparing for the next chapter of his career.
"We're proud that the quality of our pitch and facilities made Flixton a place where a player of his calibre felt comfortable training, and he is welcome to train at Flixton FC whenever he wishes.
"During his visit, Jadon was nothing but professional, humble, and generous with his time. After completing his session, he happily met with young supporters, posed for photos, signed autographs, and left a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him.
"Jadon is a world-class footballer who has achieved more in the game than most players could ever dream of. He deserves respect for both his accomplishments and the way he conducted himself during his visit, not the unwarranted criticism that has followed.
"We thank Jadon for choosing Flixton FC as a place to train and wish him every success in the next stage of his career, which will undoubtedly be at a level far above where we currently compete. Our doors will always be open to him."
