Final Words of Man, 22, to Mum and Dad Before Fatal Crash
Final Words of Man, 22, to Parents Before Fatal Crash

A 22-year-old man who died following a motorcycle crash on the A41 had hugged his step-mum and dad and told them he would see them the next day. Cody Dobbs was the pillion passenger on a black Kawasaki Z650 D2 motorbike when it was involved in a collision in September. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries but died days later.

Family's Heartbreaking Final Conversation

Cody's step-mum, Michelle Dickson, told the Liverpool Echo: "He left home on Friday evening, gave me a hug, gave his dad a hug and said, ‘see you tomorrow.'"

She added: "Then his dad got a call at 7am on the Saturday from the police. At 22 years of age, you think, ‘oh, what's he been up to? Has he got in a fight?’ He didn't pass away on his own. He had me, his dad and his biological mum with him, but it doesn't seem real."

Police Investigation and Funeral Plans

Ms Dickson said the family had not seen Cody since his death due to the police investigation. They were due to see him this week, with the funeral scheduled for a week on Thursday. She described the experience as "very hard" and "still very raw."

She said: "We have the rollercoaster of, we cry, and then we're like, it's not real, it's not happened, even though it's been three weeks for us. It's like we're stuck in a time warp."

Tribute from Father

Cody's dad, Conor Dobbs, said the family were "truly devastated" by the loss of his son, whose life was "so cruelly brought to a sudden and tragic end." In a statement issued through Cheshire Police, he said: "We are all truly devasted of the loss of our beautiful son. Words cannot describe the sense of pain and loss to everyone, including all his friends and family."

He added: "A young man with all his dreams in front of him, his life was so cruelly brought to a sudden and tragic end. Cody was such a joy with his smile, charisma, and caring nature to everyone he met. Not one person who met my son had anything other than respect and kind words to say about him."

Mr Dobbs said: "He was a big part of people lives, he will live on forever in our hearts and minds. He was an amazing chef and accomplished so much already at such a young age, we are all truly devasted."

The motorbike rider, also a 22-year-old man, was arrested at the scene but subsequently de-arrested and has been helping police with their enquiries. Anyone who witnessed the incident has been urged to contact Cheshire Police on 101 or via the website, quoting IML-2420723.
