Two women were allegedly abducted and gang raped by five men shortly after arriving in Pakistan. The victims, from the Netherlands and Venezuela, landed on Monday, June 29, and were taken to a house in Lahore, where the assault occurred. Police have arrested four suspects, while a fifth remains at large.
Details of the Attack
According to police, the women were abducted soon after their arrival and held at a residence in Lahore. The attackers demanded a ransom for their release. Authorities were alerted after one victim's father reported her missing. A swift search led to the rescue of the women and the arrest of four suspects.
The alleged attackers have been identified as Muhammad Raza Dar, Hassan Raza, Sikandar Khan, and Sajid Ali. A fifth suspect is still being sought. Local reports indicate that Muhammad Raza Dar is a relative of Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. He is accused of inviting the women to Pakistan after meeting them in Singapore last October and allegedly organizing their abduction and rape.
Investigation and Legal Proceedings
Police stated that Raza Dar even arranged the visas for the women's visit. A local officer commented: "Since it is a very sensitive matter as a close relative of Deputy PM Ishaq Dar is involved in this high-profile case, police are investigating it from all aspects."
A court official revealed that the women identified Raza Dar as the "prime suspect" when the four accused were produced before a magistrate. Lahore police have registered a case under sections 365A (kidnapping) and 375A (gang rape) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Background of Lahore
Lahore, the second-largest city in Pakistan with a population of over 14 million, is the capital of Punjab province. The case has drawn significant attention due to the involvement of a high-ranking official's relative.
