The family of Aaron Richards, also known as Archie, have paid tribute to him after he and his dog Merlin died in a collision on the A470 in Powys. The 32-year-old from Builth Wells and his "beloved" dog were travelling in an Audi A5 when it crashed with a parked Peugeot 2008 between Llyswen and Llansteffan on October 3.
Family's tribute
In a statement shared via Dyfed-Powys Police, his family described him as a "kind-hearted, loving and remarkable young man who brought happiness to everyone around him." They said his death was "devastating" and that "the pain of losing him is impossible to put into words, and our lives will never be the same without him."
Aaron was remembered as a deeply loved son, grandson, brother and friend. He leaves behind his mother, Josie, his brother Alex, his sister Megan, Howard, his father Nick, his stepmum Tina and his brother Liam, along with his wider family and friends.
'Only one Aaron'
The family said Aaron was a skilled carpenter who took great pride in his work and was looking forward to starting a new job. They added: "He lived a full and happy life during his 32 years and had achieved so much, but it felt as though he was only just getting started."
They also spoke of his love for simple pleasures, saying: "He loved nothing more than having a pint with his friends and enjoying a game of pool. These simple moments brought him so much happiness." The family said his dog Merlin was "a special part of his life" and that it was "heartbreaking that they have both been taken from us."
They concluded: "There was only one Aaron. We will miss his laugh, his smile, his bear hugs and his huge personality every day."
