The family of a 15-year-old girl killed in a crash have paid an emotional tribute to their “beloved” daughter, remembering her contagious laugh and “biggest smile”.
Charlie Olivia Slack was a passenger in a Fiat 500 when it was involved in a crash with a Ford Transit van on Shincliffe Lane near Durham at around 5.30pm on September 24.

Despite the efforts of members of the public and emergency services, she was pronounced dead at the scene, reports Chronicle Live.
A second passenger in the Fiat was taken to University Hospital North Durham for treatment, while both drivers suffered minor injuries.
Family's tribute
In a tribute released by Durham Constabulary, her family said: “Words can’t describe how broken we are. 15 years is only a short lifetime in which to fulfil your dreams and conquer the world.
“Charlie was our beloved daughter, sister, auntie, niece, granddaughter, cousin and friend.
“Your beautiful face is everywhere we turn. We keep hoping you will just pop round the corner with one of your favourite sayings or your contagious laugh, singing and dancing, playing Fortnite, making us laugh with the biggest smile on your face.
“We can never fill the massive void you have left in our lives, but we take so much comfort in the precious memories you have left for us to treasure.
“We would like to thank everybody who cared for Charlie and for their efforts to save her life. The actions of the emergency services and members of the public have not gone unnoticed.
“Charlie will be loved forever.”
Police appeal
Charlie’s family are being supported by specialist officers following the collision.
Durham Constabulary is appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage of the vehicles to contact its Serious Collision Investigation Unit, quoting incident number 402 of September 24.
