Driver dies in A40 single-vehicle crash in Pembrokeshire

A driver has died following a single-vehicle crash on the A40 near Robeston Wathen in Pembrokeshire.

Emergency services, including police, fire crews, and paramedics, were called to the scene on Wednesday morning. The driver was confirmed to have died at the scene.

Road closed for five hours

The A40, which is the main route between St Clears in Carmarthenshire and Haverfordwest in Pembrokeshire, was shut for around five hours while emergency crews remained at the scene.

A spokesman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: "We attended a single-vehicle road traffic collision on the A40, near Robeston Wathen, at around 9.15am on Wednesday, August 19.

"Officers attended alongside the ambulance and fire and rescue services and the road was closed.

"Sadly the driver of the vehicle passed away at the scene.

"Next of kin have been informed and will continue to be supported by specialist officers.

"The vehicle was recovered and the road re-opened at around 2.10pm."
