A man believed to be walking a dog past a house in Uxbridge, west London, has been stabbed to death. The 49-year-old victim, named locally as Wayne Broadhurst, died in Midhurst Gardens after a triple stabbing incident on Monday evening.
Police were called at 5pm to reports of a stabbing. A 22-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. Footage on social media showed the suspect being detained after being hit by a Taser, having been seen holding a knife.
Two other males, believed to be a father and son aged 45 and 14, were also stabbed. The older man’s injuries are described as life-changing but not life-threatening, while the boy’s injuries are neither life-threatening nor life-changing. The attack is not being treated as terrorism.
Police said the arrested man was an Afghan national. Government sources said he arrived in the UK on a lorry in 2020 and was granted asylum and leave to remain in 2022. The nationalities of the victims were not provided.
Ch Supt Jill Horsfall described the incident as a shocking and senseless act of violence. Officers remain in the area to provide reassurance. Local residents expressed shock, with one saying the area is usually family-oriented and another noting that people are panicked.
