A woman has described her distress after witnessing a man with no trousers at a beauty spot in Essex. The incident took place at Two Tree Island near Southend-on-Sea, where Tim Meehan was seen by a woman with his bottom half bare.
Basildon Magistrates Court heard the woman was walking her dogs when she spotted the top half of Meehan near a small hill in the nature reserve. She initially turned away, but later encountered him a second time, as reported by Essex Live.
Court hears details of encounter
Sara Thompson, prosecuting, told the court: 'This time he had his back to her and something in his hand. He then put it [the carrot] in his bum.'
The court also heard that another passer-by instructed Meehan to pull his trousers back up.
District Judge King noted there was a suggestion that Meehan, 49, was intoxicated when he removed his clothing.
Plea and sentencing
Meehan appeared in court on Thursday, speaking only to confirm his identity. He admitted one charge of outraging public decency immediately.
Judge King said Meehan's early plea would reduce his sentence, but adjourned the case to await a report from the probation service. Meehan, of Westcliff-on-Sea, is due to be sentenced at a hearing in November.
Two Tree Island is a 259-hectare reserve situated on the Thames Estuary.
