Delhi building collapse traps at least 50 students

A multi-storey building in New Delhi's Satya Niketan area has collapsed, with at least 50 students reportedly trapped under the rubble. The Delhi Fire Service said it received the first information about the incident at 1.33pm local time (9.03am UK time).

Rescue operation underway

At least 12 fire crews have been deployed to the scene, alongside police officers and paramedics. Images from the site show a large crowd gathered near the debris as rescuers work to clear the collapsed structure and reach those believed to be trapped underneath.

The building was reportedly used as a hostel for children, according to initial reports.
