Daughter's Scream After Mum Allegedly Murders Partner

A horrific domestic incident in the Spanish city of Bilbao has left a community in shock after a woman was accused of brutally murdering her long-term partner, with her daughter reportedly screaming five chilling words to arriving police officers.

Gruesome Discovery in Uribarri Neighbourhood

According to official statements from the Department of Security, police were called to a residential property in the Uribarri neighbourhood of Bilbao on Friday, January 30th, following reports of a suspected homicide. Officers from the Ertzaintza force attended the scene where they made a grisly discovery.

The victim, identified as 67-year-old Luis M, was found deceased inside the apartment he shared with his partner. Preliminary investigations revealed he had suffered multiple stab wounds, including injuries to his neck and other areas of his body. In a particularly disturbing detail, reports indicate the victim had also been subjected to genital mutilation.

Daughter's Distressed Reaction

The suspect, a 55-year-old Venezuelan woman named Maria, allegedly confessed to the killing when police arrived at the scene. The incident came to light after Maria reportedly informed her daughter about what had occurred in the early hours of the morning.

The daughter, described as being in her twenties and reportedly fond of Luis whom she referred to as her father, immediately called for emergency assistance. When the first patrol car arrived at the property, the young woman was reportedly heard screaming in the street: "My mother killed my father!"

Relationship Background and Community Shock

Maria and Luis had been in a relationship for approximately five years, according to local reports. Despite being born in Portugal, Luis had spent most of his life in Bilbao where he operated a bar in the local area. The couple appeared to have a normal relationship to those who knew them socially.

Neighbours from both the flats above and below the couple's apartment confirmed they had heard screams coming from the home prior to the police arrival. The community has expressed profound shock at the violent turn of events.

Friends Express Disbelief

Leydi, a bakery owner and friend to both the victim and suspect, told local media: "I'm in shock. We never expected this, especially not in the way it happened. When I left work, I always had a beer or a glass of moscato on the terrace with them. They talked, they laughed. There must be more to this."

A local taxi driver echoed this sentiment, stating: "No one knows what goes on inside people's homes. They seemed like a normal couple, not toxic in the least. A separated man who gets together with a new woman. We're shocked. No one saw this coming."

Investigation and Legal Proceedings

The suspect was taken into custody at the scene, photographed wearing a maroon jacket before being transported to the Ibarrekolanda police station for questioning. A formal murder investigation was immediately launched by authorities.

The victim's body was removed from the property around midday and transferred to Bilbao Courthouse where an autopsy was scheduled to be performed. Luis is reported to have been survived by three sons and several grandchildren.

Suspect Hospitalised and Detained

Subsequent reports indicated that Maria was hospitalised for treatment of cuts and minor injuries, which investigators have attributed to resistance from Luis during the alleged knife attack. A duty judge visited Maria in hospital to take her statement before authorising her provisional imprisonment without bail.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to establish the precise circumstances and motivations behind this tragic domestic violence incident. Early reports from Spanish media have suggested the couple may have been arguing over jealousy issues prior to the fatal altercation.
