Dad killed in Grangemouth crash as partner pays tribute

A 'devoted dad and loving partner' has died after being struck by a car in Grangemouth. Sean McGinley, 24, was involved in a collision with a Ford Fiesta on Newlands Road shortly after 11.15pm on Monday, August 17.

Emergency services attended the scene, but the dad-of-one was pronounced dead. His partner, Alex Jaye, said she is 'in a state of shock' knowing she will never see or speak to Sean again, and that he would not see their son grow up.

Family's tribute

Jaye said the couple had shared seven years together and that she had never imagined having to face life without him. In a tribute, she wrote: "Sean was taken from us far too soon in a tragic road accident. We are completely devastated and struggling to come to terms with the fact that he is no longer here. His death has left a huge hole in our family and in the lives of everyone who loved him."

She added: "Sean was a loving partner, a devoted dad, and such an important part of our lives. Our son has lost their dad, and I have lost the person I shared my life with. We never imagined we would have to face something like this." Jaye promised Sean that their son would grow up knowing how much he loved him, saying: "I will smash life for us both and make you proud. I'm so glad we had [our son] together and you will always remain with us through him."

Police appeal

A fundraiser has been launched to help the family with costs following Sean's sudden death. Police are appealing for witnesses who may have stopped at the scene before emergency services arrived. Officers believe a dark-coloured vehicle stopped immediately after the crash, with a man and woman getting out. One of them is believed to have spoken to the driver of the Ford Fiesta.

Sergeant Michael Shillington said officers were particularly keen to speak to the pair as they could be important witnesses. He said: "We know there were a number of witnesses who assisted at the scene prior to emergency services attending. Specifically, we're keen to hear from two people who we believed stopped behind the Fiesta following the crash and spoke with the driver. They are potential witnesses and we are eager to hear from them."

He added: "Equally anyone who has relevant dashcam or video footage is asked to provide this at their earliest opportunity." Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference 3764 of August 17, 2026.
