A cyclist has been taken to hospital with a serious head injury following a three-vehicle crash in Wavertree, Liverpool. The incident occurred at the junction of Durning Road, Crosfield Road and Nuttall Way just after midday on Sunday, August 9.
Collision details
The crash involved an electric bike, a blue van, and a white Seat Arona. The cyclist, a man, was taken to hospital. The drivers of both the van and the car are assisting police with their enquiries.
As of 7pm, Durning Road remains closed in both directions between Nuttall Way/Crosfield Road and Wavertree Road. Police officers were visible at the scene.
Traffic impact
Online traffic monitor INRIX reports that traffic is coping well in the area, while the AA Roadwatch reports some queuing on Wavertree Road and Tunnel Road as vehicles are diverted.
Police appeal
A Merseyside Police spokesman said: "We are appealing for information following a collision in Wavertree today, Sunday 9 August.
"Just after midday we received a report of a collision involving an electric bike, a blue van and a white Seat Arona on Durning Road at the junction of Tunnel Road.
"The man on the pedal bike has been taken to hospital with a serious injury to his head. Drivers of both vehicles are helping police with enquiries.
"Road closures are currently in place in the surrounding area and motorists are advised to avoid the area while emergency services deal with the incident. Thank you for your patience."
