A 36-year-old cyclist is fighting for his life after being struck by a vehicle on the A72 in a hit-and-run. The man was riding from Skirling towards the A702 at Biggar when he was hit by a vehicle that fled the scene before police arrived.
Life-Threatening Injuries
The cyclist was rushed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with injuries described as life-threatening. Officers are now searching for a Mercedes Sprinter-type van that was in the area around the time of the incident.
Investigation Launched
An investigation has been launched as police attempt to establish the full circumstances. Anyone who witnessed the incident or was travelling on the road at the time is urged to come forward.
Detective Constable Josh Ellwood said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us. I would also appeal to anyone who has seen a Mercedes Sprinter type van in the area around the time to contact us.
“I would also request anyone with dash cam or private CCTV footage that could assist to get in touch.”
