Coronation Street viewers are convinced they have worked out a major twist involving newcomer Lucy Parkinson, with many suggesting she is the real killer and her father is taking the blame.
Recent episodes saw Tim Metcalfe shocked to pick up his cousin Richie, whom he had not seen in years, as a fare in the precinct. With his wife Sally away, Tim invited Richie over for drinks with the lads. During the evening, Richie confided in Tim about his unhappy marriage, and Tim offered him a place to stay for the night. However, when Sally returned, she was unhappy about Richie being in their home, and Tim encouraged him to return to his wife.
Later, Tim discovered Richie's wallet at home and drove back to his house, where he found a disoriented and bloodied Richie. Horrified, Tim called the police.
Murder charge and Lucy's arrival
On Tuesday's episode, DS Lisa Swain confirmed that Richie had been charged with the murder of his wife. Lisa informed Tim and Sally that Richie's daughter Lucy had been taken into care, and that Richie claims he acted in self-defence.
In recent scenes, Lucy has moved in with Tim and Sally, bringing more drama. On Friday's episode, available on ITVX, Lucy started screaming in the middle of the night and sleepwalking after a terrible nightmare.
After hearing Brody Michaelis gossiping about her family and discussing her mum's murder, Lucy defended her father, claiming her mother attacked him first and he was acting in self-defence after years of abuse.
Violent outburst on the cobbles
Later, Lucy found herself in another argument when Lily Platt tried to make friends. When Lucy ignored her, Lily called her a freak and tried to leave, but Lucy grabbed Lily's arm, forcing Jodie Ramsey to intervene. This resulted in Lucy lashing out and Jodie getting injured.
Jodie quickly told Sally and Tim about Lucy's attack, but the new foster parents defended the newcomer, claiming she was the victim instead.
Fan theories point to Lucy
Taking to X, soap watchers think Lucy actually murdered her mum and that her father is taking the blame for her. One person said: "Was obvious that Lucy would be the one who did it. Not her dad #Corrie that's my theory anyways" to which another viewer wrote: "Wondering if they’ll go down that obvious route with it being Lucy that killed her mum and her dad is covering for her #Corrie."
Elsewhere, another account said: "Lucy definitely did it #corrie" to which a different viewer added: "Anyone else already thinking Lucy did it and Richie is just covering for her? That's quite a temper she has there...#corrie."
Meanwhile, another soap fan commented: "Do you think Lucy killed her mum in a twist #Corrie", a different viewer put: "My guess is Lucy killed her mum and her Dad is taking the blame.... #Corrie" with another soap watcher adding: "#corrie Did Lucy kill her mum and the dad is covering by taking the blame."
