Coronation Street's Sarah Platt charged with murder in exit twist
Coronation Street's Sarah Platt charged with murder

Coronation Street's Sarah Platt burst into tears as she learned she was to be charged with the murder of Theo Silverton. The factory supervisor, played by Tina O'Brien since 1999, was revealed earlier this year to have killed Theo by hitting him over the head with a pipe after months of abuse towards her friend Todd.

Cover-up unravels

Instead of calling her partner DC Kit Green, she involved ex-boyfriend Gary Windass. Sarah eventually confessed to Kit, who tried to protect her. DS Lisa Swain, who has a history of locking up innocent people, finally solved the crime and told Kit: "CPS have decided to charge Sarah with murder. You've got to make a decision here, Kit. Do you want to keep protecting her, or do you wanna keep your career?"

Sarah's reaction

Kit delivered the news to Sarah, saying: "I know this is hard, I'm sorry, but as it stands, all the evidence is pointing to you. Lisa's got the bit between her teeth." Sarah replied: "I can't do this. I can't believe this is happening!" Kit warned she would likely be sent straight to prison after her first court appearance.

Fan theories

Fans doubt this is the end for Sarah, given her history of surviving kidnappings and covering up murders. One fan on X said: "How is Sarah still staying in the show?! Surely there’s some twist coming that shows he wasn’t actually dead?" Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
