CCTV Shows Man on Rampage Smashing Up Salford Salon

Disturbing CCTV footage has emerged showing a man going on a rampage as he broke into a Salford salon in the early hours of the morning. The incident occurred at Ziba Salon on Algernon Street in Monton shortly before 2am on Sunday, June 7.

Details of the Break-In

The salon owner, Chelsea, reported that the suspect smashed the glass door and pushed it off its hinges before throwing an Apple laptop at the ceiling and hurling a chair at glass mirrors. The bizarre break-in was captured on CCTV and shared on social media by the business, which confirmed that Greater Manchester Police are investigating.

In the footage, the suspect can be seen taking a photo with his mobile phone, then closing the laptop and throwing it at the ceiling, causing it to shatter and debris to fall. He then paces back and forth before picking up a chair and throwing it across the room towards a glass mirror, which was also damaged.

Owner's Response

In a statement on Instagram, the salon wrote: "Please share to find who has done this to my livelihood. Devastated yet again by trying to work hard." Chelsea added: "Thank you everyone for all your kind words and support. We're cleaned up and will be able to function as normal once the door is replaced and one mirror station. It could have been much worse."

She praised the police for their speedy assistance and expressed hope that the suspect would be caught due to the evidence captured. Chelsea noted that police informed her other premises had also been targeted that evening, and officers believed the incidents may be linked.

"He didn't steal the laptop, he has just broken it by throwing it at the ceiling. He didn't take a thing, just smashed the door off the hinge and the glass out, thrown the laptop and the chairs at stations smashing the mirror," she said. "We waited hours for a company to come and board the door for us. Police were great and informed us there had been other incidents, one being at a school that has been heavily damaged and they think it could be linked. We hope he is found so he doesn't do this to anyone else in the area."

Police Investigation

Greater Manchester Police confirmed the incident is being investigated as criminal damage. No arrests have been made yet, and enquiries are ongoing.
