Police have released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to after a man was assaulted in Manchester city centre while trying to get into a taxi.
Greater Manchester Police said that on September 5 2026, the man was leaving the New Union pub on Canal Street when he walked across the road towards Sheng Tai International on Princess Street.
As he attempted to get into a taxi, two men approached him and assaulted him, the force said.
Serious facial injuries
A spokesperson for GMP said: "One man is believed to have thrown several punches towards the victim, before a second man approached, allegedly grabbed the victim against the taxi and punched him in the face.
"The victim fell to the floor and sustained serious facial injuries, including multiple fractures, which required hospital treatment."
As part of the appeal, the force have released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak in relation to the incident.
Appeal for witnesses
Officers are keen to speak to anyone who was in the Canal Street or Princess Street area at around 5.45am and may have witnessed the assault or captured relevant footage.
