CCTV has captured the moment a car smashed through the front entrance of a pharmacy in Cruden Bay, Peterhead, narrowly missing staff in a terrifying accident.
Emergency crews, including police, two ambulances and a special operations response team, rushed to Websters Pharmacy on Aulton Road on the afternoon of Monday, August 24. An alarm was raised around 12.30pm after police received a report of a car having crashed into the shop window.
Driver taken to hospital
Upon attendance, the male driver was raced to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The force confirmed that enquiries are ongoing, however, it's understood that the driver had taken unwell.
CCTV from the store showed a member of the pharmacy team working behind the counter when a grey car comes crashing through the glass, sending shards and metal posts flying. The worker is seen huddling into the far corner away from the vehicle.
Staff member's narrow escape
All of a sudden, the car then bursts further forward, colliding with the counter. The quick-thinking female staff member is seen leaping onto the table and vaulting a wall to safety, where she is pulled into a back room by a colleague.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 12.30pm on Monday, 24 August, 2026 police received a report of a car having crashed into a shop window in Aulton Road, Cruden Bay, Peterhead.
"Emergency services attended and the male driver was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Enquires are ongoing."
Emergency response
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman added: "We received a call at 12:19 to attend an incident on Aulton Road, Cruden Bay.
"Two ambulances and a special operations response team (SORT) were dispatched to the scene and one patient was transported to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary."
