Manchester United players, including Harry Maguire and Youri Tielemans, have voiced their support for Marcus Rashford following the team's 4-2 defeat to AC Milan. The forward made his first United appearance since December 2024, coming on as a second-half substitute in the match.
Players Rally Behind Rashford
Harry Maguire was asked about Rashford's potential contribution and said: "He can improve us, for sure. I think when you seen when he come on, he threatens the back line really well. He could have even scored for us."
Maguire added: "He's a huge threat to have in your team. So if he's going to stay with us, obviously the transfer window is still open, but we hope as players that he stays and he's a big asset to have. I've played with Marcus for numerous years and I know that playing against him, playing with him in training is going to help us."
Youri Tielemans and Noussair Mazraoui also spoke positively about Rashford, with Tielemans saying "you want that type of player in your team".
Uncertain Future at Old Trafford
Despite the backing, Rashford's future remains uncertain. United are open to selling the forward if a suitable offer arrives before the transfer window closes on September 1. Plans to sign a new left winger have been put on hold, and a late departure could leave United without a replacement of similar quality.
Most at the club expect Rashford to stay for the 2026/27 campaign, but a bid deemed acceptable would likely see him leave. After a week of praise from players and manager Michael Carrick, selling him now would be a mistake Carrick should avoid this late in the window.
