Emergency services were called to Glasgow city centre on Tuesday afternoon after a bus collided with a cherry picker, leaving one man in hospital. The incident occurred at around 12.40pm on Baird Street, near Glasgow Caledonian University and Buchanan Bus Station.

Scene cordoned off

Police cordoned off the area around Baird Street, and photographs from the scene show a number 87 bus parked next to the damaged cherry picker, which was leaning over the carriageway. The man involved was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, though no details about his condition or the severity of his injuries have been released.

An eyewitness told Glasgow Live that the man was in the cherry picker when it was struck by the double-decker bus.

Police statement

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.40pm on Tuesday, August 18, we received a report of a man injured after a cherry picker was struck by a bus in the Baird Street area of Glasgow. The injured man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Enquiries are ongoing.”
