British Pensioners Targeted by Russian Warship Speak Out

A retired British couple whose yacht was targeted by a Russian warship have described the encounter as 'scary'. Jane Kelvey, 68, and her husband Alan, 70, were aboard their 40-foot yacht, Bright Future, traveling from the south coast of England towards France when warning shots were fired from the Russian frigate Admiral Grigorovich.

The Incident

The shots were fired several times on Tuesday, prompting the couple to take cover. 'It was a bit scary,' Mrs Kelvey told The i Paper. 'I crouched down. I didn't think our safety was in danger. But it was certainly unusual. As we sailed away, we said to each other, what the hell just happened?'

Reactions

The couple, both experienced sailors, were shaken but unharmed. The incident has raised tensions between the UK and Russia, with diplomatic channels expected to be engaged. The Russian warship was reportedly conducting exercises in the area.
